Win an advanced copy of Ever After!

EAAdvancedcopy

UPDATE: The winner of this contest is Ann Lorz. Congratulations, Ann! And thanks again to everyone who entered! :)

My third book, Ever After, releases in print and e-book on August 25th. If you’ve read Unleashed or For Keeps, you’ve already met feisty Olivia Bennett, and boy does she meet her match when she gets caught toeing the wrong side of the law by Deputy Pete Sampson (aka Deputy Hot Stuff).

But if you don’t want to wait until August to read their story, I’ve got an advanced copy of Ever After to give away right now! There are two ways to enter:

1. Add Ever After to your “to read” shelf on Goodreads:
goodreads-badge
After you’ve added it, leave a comment here with your Goodreads screenname.

2. Sign up for my e-newsletter (top right of this page). After you’ve signed up, leave a comment here with the first part of your email address (whatever comes before @gmail.com, @aol.com, etc. – no need to post your whole email addy here on the internet!) I promise not to spam you – I only send about 4 newsletters a year.

Good luck! Make sure you leave a separate comment for each entry. I’ve posted the same contest on my Facebook page, but don’t worry, I’ll tally all the entries from both locations before I let random.org pick a winner! :)

This contest will run through Tuesday, June 2nd, and yes this one is international! :)

Snap a picture, win a Walmart gift card!

You may know that both Unleashed and For Keeps are carried at Walmart. And as you may also know, I love giveaways, and I love seeing copies of my books “in the wild” and on the shelves. The result? A new contest!

Walmart Giveaway copy

Sounds easy enough, right? I hope so! :) Just snap a picture of one of my books on the shelf (or you holding your copy), share it on social media, and tag me to make sure I see it. On March 24th, I’ll draw one random winner who’ll receive a $25 Walmart gift card.

Fine Print: The “shelf” in question doesn’t have to be at Walmart, any shelf will do! And if you’ve already taken a picture of one of my books, just re-share it and tag me to be entered in this giveaway.

GIVEAWAY – For Keeps Prize Pack!

I can hardly believe it’s almost release day for FOR KEEPS!

For Keeps cover_lo resA SUMMER FLING…OR SOMETHING MORE?

Merry Atwater would do just about anything to save her dog rescue — even if it means working with the most stubborn man on the planet. It’s hard to avoid the sparks that fly with TJ Jameson, the ruggedly sexy cowboy in charge of the children’s camp where she’s just taken an animal therapy job. But commitment is not Merry’s style, and TJ clearly wants more than just a roll in the hay.

TJ Jameson isn’t looking for anything complicated — just a peaceful life on his family’s ranch with a wife and kids. “No-strings” Merry Atwater doesn’t fit that bill, no matter how irresistible she is. But when he sees how Merry gets through to his autistic nephew and the other kids at Camp Blue Sky, TJ’s a goner. If he doesn’t give in to the now, he might just lose his shot at forever . . .

Merry and TJ will be hitting the shelves on January 27th, but I’ve got a chance for you to win a FOR KEEPS prize pack before then. It includes an autographed copy of the book, a Dogwood pendant necklace, and a Bark Less Wag More mug.

My Favorite Books of 2014

I didn’t have a lot of time to read this year (something I hope to fix next year!) but I still managed to read some amazing books. Some of them were by longtime favorite authors of mine, and a couple of them were by authors I hadn’t read before. In no particular order, here they are:

Christmas At Twilight

Lori Wilde’s Christmas at Twilight. This book was heart-wrenching and beautiful. It touches on some dark issues, and it will leave you crying happy tears by the end. Reading it during the Christmas season makes it all the more special, so if you get a chance to read it this month, you really should! :) Lori is my teacher and mentor, and I’m always a big fan of her books, but just read the other reviews if you think I’m biased. This book is fabulous.

Carolina Man

Virginia Kantra’s Carolina Man. This was my first book of Virginia’s, and she had me tearing up on page two when the hero rescues a homeless dog while serving overseas. I was hooked, and she never let me go. This book was everything I look for in a romance: heartfelt, emotional, a vibrant small town setting (of course I’m partial to books set in NC!) and the furry sidekicks didn’t hurt either. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

ItHappenedOneWedding

It Happened One Wedding by Julie James. Julie is an auto-buy author for me. She served up more of the witty, fast-paced banter I’ve come to expect from her in this one, but it was also a really heartwarming story with characters I adored. Her glossy Chicago-set books are a nice departure from the small town southern contemporaries I usually read, and this one is one of my favorites she’s written!

ItsInHisKiss

It’s in His Kiss by Jill Shalvis. It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of Jill Shalvis, and her Lucky Harbor series is hands-down my favorite contemporary romance series. This is the 10th book in the series, and one of my favorites, which is saying a lot, as she had already set the bar high in Lucky Harbor. I adored Sam and Becca. Their story was so heartfelt and touching. I loved everything about this book!

Shelter Me

Shelter Me by Catherine Mann. Catherine was another new author for me. A friend recommended her, and as soon as I saw the cover, I knew I had to read this book. As you might have guessed based on my own books, I’m a huge sucker for a book involving animal rescue, and this one, well…Catherine delves even deeper into the gritty realities of animal rescue than I do in Unleashed. I cried several times reading it. It’s definitely a heavy book, but ultimately so heartwarming. I highly recommend it!

Head over to my Facebook page, because I’ll be giving away copies of these books, and Unleashed, all week! Don’t miss it! :)

Lots of fun things coming!

I have a lot of exciting things coming up in the next few weeks (namely lots of fun giveaways and other holiday goodies!). So here’s a quick rundown:

The week of December 8th, I’m celebrating some of my favorite books I’ve read so far this year with five days of giveaways. Every day next week, I’ll be giving away one of these books, as well as a copy of Unleashed. This is going to be a Facebook giveaway, so if you haven’t “liked” my author page yet, now is a good time! :)

GIVEAWAY (2)

Then on Friday December 12th, I’ll be joining 20 other contemporary romance authors for a 12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop. We’ll be sharing holiday favorites and giving away lots of fun goodies. Stay tuned right here on my blog starting on the 12th!

And if that isn’t enough, I’ve got a cover reveal for Love to the Rescue book 3, Ever After, coming up soon. Might I remind you of the hotness of Deputy Pete Sampson? My editor was thoughtful enough to ask the cover model to pose for a shirtless picture for our enjoyment :)

Wow, right? I can’t wait to share the finished product with you! Ever After will be out on August 25th.

Oh! And don’t forget, For Keeps (book 2) will be out NEXT MONTH! Yes, January 27th. I hope you’ll love Merry and TJ’s story as much as I loved writing it. Have you pre-ordered your copy yet? If not, what are you waiting for? Make this new author’s day and order your copy today! (PS, if you didn’t hear the news, my Amazon pre-order buttons are back! Merry and TJ can be yours on your Kindle – woohoo!)

That’s all for now. Happy almost-Friday, everyone! :)

Happy “Birthday” to my girl Lacy

Eight years ago today, we brought home this beautiful girl. She’d been abused, neglected, then dumped at the shelter where she gave birth to a litter of puppies that didn’t make it. She was two years old. She’s ten now, and we love her more every day.

There’s something extra special about a rescue dog. They appreciate life even more because they know how good they’ve got it now! :) Lacy’s getting pretty old and gray these days, but she’s still as sassy as ever. Little known fact: she almost got to be the cover model for Unleashed, but I didn’t have quite the right shot, and her face is too white now for a re-shoot. She’s still pretty gorgeous though, right? :) (the photo below is Lacy in her younger years)

To honor Lacy, and all rescue dogs and the people who work so hard to save them, if you make a donation to an animal rescue group today, I will gift you a copy of Unleashed. Just email me at rachellaceycontest (at) gmail (dot) com with a screenshot of your donation (personal info removed of course), and I’ll send you your choice of a signed paperback (US only please) or e-book (Kindle or Nook format).

Not sure who to donate to? I can personally recommend Carolina Boxer Rescue. They saved Lacy and rescue hundreds of boxers every year. As a volunteer run organization, every penny you donate goes directly to medical bills and other care for the dogs. And of course you can never go wrong with the ASPCA. The ASPCA works tirelessly to save homeless animals in America and bring awareness to the laws and services needed to better protect them.

Happy “Birthday” Lacy, and here’s to many more! :)

Giveaways, and more giveaways! :)

It’s the final countdown to Unleashed’s release on October 28th, and it’s time for some giveaways. First up, my publisher is giving away ten copies on Goodreads, so head on over there and put your name in the drawing. That giveaway ends on the 27th.

And to celebrate my very first release day, I’m giving away a prize pack of my own:

Chapter 1

Cara Medlen felt the growl before she heard it, rumbling against her leg from the dog tensed at her side. She jiggled the leash to break his concentration. “Easy, Casper. You may not realize it yet, but today’s your lucky day.”

He looked up at her with dull eyes, one brown, one blue. A jagged scar creased his face. Ribs and hip bones jutted through his mangy white coat. And, oh boy, did he stink. Cara had yet to meet an ugly boxer, but Casper . . . well, he had the sort of face that made people cross to the other side of the street.

That same face grabbed at a tender spot in her heart.

“It’s a blessing that Triangle Boxer Rescue can take him,” the woman behind the desk, a volunteer named Helen, said. “Shelter life hasn’t been good for him.”

Cara nodded as she handed the signed paperwork to Helen. “I’ve worked with a lot of dogs like Casper. I’m sure we’ll have him ready for adoption in no time.”

But the warning she’d received from her homeowners’ association over the summer weighed heavily on her mind: Keep her foster dogs in line or face disciplinary action by the board.

The door to the kennels opened, allowing raucous barking to spill into the lobby. Casper peered around her and fixed his gaze on the man who’d come through the door. His ears flattened, and the hair raised along his spine.

Yep, this dog was trouble all right.
