Up, up, and away!

So, if you follow me on social media, you might have already seen a few pictures from my weekend trip, but since I mentioned it in my blog post last week about new book titles, I wanted to share a few pictures here too! On Saturday, I flew to New Jersey to meet a college friend to see Madonna in concert. Atlantic City was a wet, windy mess from last weekend’s rain storm, but that didn’t dampen our fun! :)

A little history – fourteen years ago, my friend Hope and I “vogued” our way to our first Madonna concert…

Pioneering selfies before selfie was a word! :) (I called them “handhelds” back in the day…)

Fast forward from 2001 to 2015, marriage and a couple of kids later, and we are still at it! :)

Madonna was absolutely fantastic! I’ve seen her a *lot* of times, and this might be the best show I’ve ever seen. If you get a chance to see her on her Rebel Heart tour, do it! :) You won’t be disappointed, I promise.

After seeing Madonna in Atlantic City, I headed into New York City for the second half of my awesome trip. I had lunch with my editor (and got to talk about all kinds of fun bookish things!) :) before meeting some more old friends – this time fellow Gloria Estefan fans! We went to see the Broadway premiere of On Your Feet, the new show based on Gloria and her husband, Emilio’s, lives. The show was amazing! And Gloria and her family were there too! And I got to give her a hug! <3

Love her! :)

So there you have it – my awesome, amazing, whirlwind trip to New Jersey and New York, and now you get a better idea of the meaning behind my new book titles, Crazy For You and Can’t Forget You! :)

Oh! And one more bit of news…I’ve also sold a novella that will be kicking off my new series next summer – I’m very excited about it! :)

New books, music videos, and a mountain haven – oh yes! :)

You might have heard that I have a new series coming out next summer. It’s called Risking it All, and it follows three semi-reformed bad boys who met as kids in the foster care system and reunite as adults to open an extreme outdoor adventure business in the small mountain town of Haven, North Carolina. I’m so excited about it! And while the books are still pretty far away, I’m going to be seeing two of the talented ladies mentioned below this weekend, so it seemed the perfect time to share titles and release dates with you all.

So here’s where this post gets funny (for me, at least!) :) Back in July, my editor asked me to start thinking about titles for the series and said they were looking for song titles as book titles for this one. Yeah, she was definitely thinking about classic songs a la Jill Shalvis’s Lucky Harbor series. I don’t think she was expecting the list she got from me including everything from Aerosmith to Madonna – ha!! :) And after a little back and forth, we ended up with a series that I am absolutely thrilled with. So I present to you…

Run to You – Risking it All book 1, August 30, 2016

Did you all love The Bodyguard as much as I did? I was a huge Whitney Houston fan, and I had this album on constant replay back in high school (what, did I just date myself?!). Seeing Whitney now makes me sad, but this book has its share of heartbreak as well. Once you’ve read it, you’ll understand why this title is so perfect. I can’t wait to share Ethan and Gabby’s story with you, and I hope to have much more information on this one for you soon!

Crazy For You – Risking it All book 2, February 28, 2017

Oh yeah, I’m a huge Madonna fan. In fact, I’m seeing her in concert for the umpteenth time this weekend in Atlantic City, and I cannot wait! I’ve always loved this song, and I think it works perfectly for the book where the town’s good girl, Emma, gets a little wild with tattooed, motorcycle-riding bad boy Ryan, don’t you? :)

Can’t Forget You – Risking it All book 3, August 29, 2017

Now here’s where things really get interesting, because I’m positive that my editor didn’t know about this when she asked me for song titles:

Yes, that’s Gloria Estefan and me. I’m a huge fan. I’ve met her many times, so many times that she knows me by name! And no, I’m not a stalker, she’s just super cool and likes to get to know her fans – promise :) And as it happens, I’m going to the Broadway show based on her life story this weekend too. So it is extra epic and awesome that I get to use one of her song titles for my new series! And Can’t Forget You seemed the perfect title for this second chance romance.

So there you have it. I will share pictures from my NJ/NY weekend trip next week (now just cross your fingers that mother nature behaves and doesn’t flood out my trip!) And if these release dates sound too far in the future…stay tuned, because I just might have a little something else coming your way in the meantime! :)
