Holiday Recipe: Oreo Truffles

I love desserts, especially pretty and festive holiday desserts! My mother-in-law introduced me to Oreo Truffles. She makes them every year for the holidays and other special occasions. They’re so pretty, so easy to make, so YUMMY, and so versatile – you can dress them up different ways to suit almost any occasion. And, since I’m making a batch today for a few holiday parties this week, I thought I’d share the recipe with you.

1 package Oreos (regular, not Double Stuff)
1 8oz package of cream cheese, softened
16 oz candy melts (your choice of color – I prefer plain white or melted baking chocolate)


  1. Place wax paper over a cookie sheet and set aside.
  2. Open the package of Oreos and dump the whole thing into your food processor. Pulse until finely crushed. (if you don’t have a food processor, you can put your Oreos in a large ziploc bag and pound them into submission – yes I’ve done this!) :)
  3. Place the crushed Oreos in a bowl and mix together with the cream cheese until it’s fully combined.
  4. Shape the mixture into 1″ balls. Place each ball on the cookie sheet. When the balls are complete, put the cookie sheet in the freezer for 10 minutes to harden.
  5. While your truffles are in the freezer, melt your candy melts according to the directions on the package.
  6. Dip each Oreo ball into the melted candy coating (I found the little sticks used for toasting marshmallows worked well for this) then place it back on the cookie sheet.
  7. Garnish with crushed Oreos, festive sprinkles, crushed candy cane, or leave as is. Your options are endless – plenty of room to personalize these! :)
  8. Store your Oreo truffles in a resealable bag or container in the refrigerator until it’s time to eat them.
  9. ENJOY! :)

Tip: You could also add a few drops of peppermint extract to your Oreo mix for special holiday twist, or use peppermint Oreos in the recipe.
